About Brett Elder

Brett started his dance education career in 1983 and has been continuing ever since. He was a high school dance team coach for 13 years winning numerous state titles. He began serving on the MDTA board in 1996 and became president of the organization in 2000. During his tenure MDTA saw great growth in its state contest and developed an exemplary reputation across the country. Brett stepped aside in 2023 to allow the organization to continue to grow under new leadership and ideas, but still serves as a trustee to the board in an advisory role as well as serving a site coordinator advisor.  Brett is a current Nationals judge for several companies and has traveled the country judging for numerous states and contests over the last 20 years.  He has been a studio instructor for over 30 years and is still in the studio teaching tap and jazz classes for middle to high school students.
